Announcing: Selby Light 2026
7th November 2025
We’re looking forward to being a part of Blackpool Grand‘s Storytelling Festival this coming Saturday (June 28), with The Heist – a collaborative live piece of theatre with the Grand Young Company, performing at 5pm and 8pm.
The show see young performers perform a bank robbery repeatedly, using the same material in a brand new way each time to present a new perspective of events – using spoken word, choreography, music and our ITD signature digital technology.

The Company have been working with our co-Artistic Director and show director Pete Brooks for over a month now, meeting once or twice a week for most of that. You can see more of the rehearsals in action thanks to some fantastic photos from CJ Griffiths Photography below.
And, as we approach the last few days ahead of this weekend’s performances, some words from Pete on the rehearsal process:
The truth is these kind of projects have the potential to go one way or another and any of a number of ways in between; a lot depends on the chemistry of the group, and with GYC it’s been like taking part in a month long episode of Friends, but with the banter about relationships replaced with a certain gallows humour about taking GCSEs.
As a group they have an extraordinary energy, even on Wednesday evening after a day at school they arrive ready to rock ‘n roll. Sorry, wrong generation, ready to K pop! But although running around and shouting has been an important part of the process so far, energy alone has not been the whole story and as a group they are able to focus, follow and retain choreographic instruction so, a fun time we hope, is being had by all, but at the same time a lot of work does get done. Also, and maybe I should have said this earlier they are really talented bunch. Just don’t get them playing zip zap boing!
So if you’re in Blackpool on Saturday June 28th there’s a show on at 17.00 and 20.00. Come!
You can book tickets for The Heist directly on the Blackpool Grand website.
