Snapshots: Photos of Remember Romeo R&D

21st July 2026 by Lauren Randall

Having announced our next touring theatre production Remember Romeo, we’ve been getting stuck into the early stages of development with some R&D at Sodium HQ this June.

The production, which goes out on tour in 2027, relives and remembers Shakespeare’s iconic romantic tragedy in an original story of two actors and former lovers who reunite after fifty years. As memories fade, a lost 1960s TV version of Romeo & Juliet, in which they once starred, flickers back to life on the walls around them, making their bittersweet past inescapable.

With both Shakespeare’s influential dialogue and our own script coming together, along with live performance, recorded film and projection work, it was incredibly useful to run through bits of early script and test out some tech and design concepts.

It was fun, it was illuminating, it was…very warm. But what a brilliant week.

Regular ITD photographer Ed Waring was on hand for one of the days to capture some snaps of the team in action.

Our thanks to Sodium for being fantastic hosts (especially trying to keep things as cool as possible), our co-producers The Dukes and supporters Lancaster Arts, and all those who joined us in the room or in the prepping of materials, including Abby Clarke, Andrew Crofts, James Hamilton and performers Joanne Howarth, Harmage Singh Kaliari, Laura Atherton, Amélie Stewart, Kishore Walker and the young performers from a local college. Invaluable contributions, all.

Remember Romeo is out on tour in 2027 and you can find out more here.
