DigiLab 2025: In Photos
19th December 2025
Since the first week of January we’ve been in residence at Nuffield Theatre, Lancaster University getting our War of the Worlds rehearsals underway.
And thanks to our production supporters Lancaster Arts, we were able to open up the space for two open rehearsals, welcoming in a group of university students and academics for one, and a group of local artists and practitioners for another.

Rather than a work-in-progress, this was the opportunity for guests to see a live imitating the dog rehearsal in action, seeing the process of projection, camera cues, live performance come to life on and off stage.

The session, which lasted an hour, was followed by an open Q&A, where our three show creators and Artistic Directors, Simon, Andrew and Pete, along with input from the actors and creative team, explained some of the thought processes and inspirations behind this particular production, how imitating the dog’s techniques and style has established itself and evolved over the years, and the rhythms that go into hitting a mark or cue with a camera in your arms and a tech desk at the back of the room.

It was great to be able to engage with people at this point of the show’s process – invaluable, really, to take a moment and discuss what it is you’re doing when you’re actually in the thick of doing it!

Our thanks to all who attended, as well as Lancaster Arts’ Jocelyn Cunningham and her team for facilitating these events and introducing proceedings, and photographer Robin Zahler for these fantastic images from the student open rehearsal.
