All Blood Runs Red: The Mixtape Project – Call Out

29th January 2025 by Lauren Randall

To coincide with our brand new touring production All Blood Runs Red, we’re collaborating with artists and venues on an exciting spoken word, music and video project – The Mixtape Project. Supported by the Nat Merriman Fund, Lancaster Litfest and participating venues, the project’s all about encouraging young people of various ages and diverse artistic backgrounds to produce a creative response to our show.

Check out the call-out below for how and where you can get involved! Spaces are limited and booking is essential.

The Mixtape Project Call Out

Calling all wordsmiths, lyricists, beatmakers and content creators… If you’ve got something to say – verbally, visually or sonically – this is the project for you!

Working with spoken word artist, rapper & musician Testament, and video artist Laura Spark, you’ll create your own lyrical, musical, and visual responses to imitating the dog’s unique theatre production All Blood Runs Red – which tells the extraordinary true life story of Eugene Bullard: WWI fighter pilot, jazz drummer, spy, civil rights activist and more.

You’ll have space to explore your personal reflections on the themes and issues presented in the show, and to create original lyrical and poetic responses set to music and video remixed from the visual and sound designs of the show itself.

Selected audio/video pieces created in the workshops will be uploaded to a public playlist, collectively creating an online ‘mixtape’ of creative responses from young artists across the country.
