DigiLab 2024: In Photos

It is always a joy – difficult but still a joy – to start the process of a theatre production leaping from paper to stage.
Once word is out there about your new show, the drive to just get going amps up. It’s lovely to talk about it, to describe what it’s going to become, but there’s nothing quite like beginning the building.
After announcing our 2025 touring show All Blood Runs Red in early October, we travelled to Leeds for a few days of R&D at the end of the month – bringing the team together to discuss the deceptively numerous components of this smaller, one-man show.
We were also lucky to have regular ITD photographer Ed Waring join us for the final day to document some of the happenings, particularly the work between performer Morgan Bailey, who has also co-created the script with ITD, and Tyrone Huggins, joining us as director for this particular show.
Morgan has been a long-time collaborator with imitating the dog, having previously starred in both Night of the Living Dead™ – Remix (2020) and Heart of Darkness (2019), as well as live action graphic novel Airlock (2020), which was streaming on BBC iPlayer. As an associate practitioner, he has also been involved in development processes for other projects, such as the early stages of Macbeth and starred in the projections for Follow Me Into. Morgan is also a writer, including short films, participation in the BBC Writers Room and work with VIACOM CBS, and has acting credits in theatre, TV and film.
Meanwhile, it’s our first time working with Tyrone, who has been making theatre professionally for 45 years, since he co-founded the influential experimental Impact Theatre Cooperative after gaining a degree in Metallurgy at Leeds University. A playwright, actor and director, he has worked with companies including Eclipse Theatre, National Theatre, the RSC, Phoenix Dance and Contact Theatre, and is an Associated Artist at Birmingham REP and Forced Entertainment. We’re looking forward to creating this production with Tyrone and merging our styles and approaches.
And here are more R&D photos from Ed Waring.
