ITD joins Sustainable Arts in Leeds (SAIL) Theatre Green Book Cohort

28th August 2024 by Lauren Randall

Having been a member of Sustainable Arts In Leeds (SAIL) for several years, and now specifically of their Theatre Green Book cohort, we see this as a fantastic forum for sharing learning, as a space to hold really honest discussion around our environmental responsibilities and commitments within the theatre sector, what we can do differently and do better, in order to reduce our impact on the planet as we develop and tour projects, as well as identifying and building upon progress already made.

The Theatre Green Book is already proving to be an invaluable resource, offering the sector a shared language, a clear call to action, and toolkits which organisations, theatre companies and artists can readily access, as we implement the changes which, to put it very simply, must be made.

As an National Portfolio Organisation (NPO), we take our commitment to making work more sustainably very seriously, constantly reviewing our policies and practice. The Theatre Green Book cohort gives us an incredible opportunity to work together with other members of our community, as we make tangible, measurable, meaningful change.

Huge thanks to SAIL for convening the working group, and we look forward to sharing more news from the cohort going forward.
