DigiLab 2024: In Photos
28th November 2024
We were excited to be a part of Light Up Lancaster again this year, presenting our brand new installation Dear Einstein in the city’s Dalton Square across three November nights.
Light Up Lancaster Festival’s photographer Robin Zahler captured the video-mapping installation and its accompanying community choir in full flow.
Commissioned by Light Up Lancaster, Dear Einstein told the story of a man who, struggling with the million questions he has about the landscape of his life, searches for answers through an imagined (and musical) conversation with Albert Einstein. Can the great theories of science help a person find solace in their own life?
Featuring an original score composed by James Hamilton and a community choir of Lancaster & Morecambe residents, who rehearsed in four sessions in the run-up to the performances, Dear Einstein presented ponderings and musings that were playful, funny, thoughtful and moving.
With great thanks to Encounter Voices, led by Loz Kaye, for their support with the community choir, and to each participant, who were enthusiastic and really understood the essence of the piece, conveying it so beautifully.
Thank you also to Light Up Lancaster for another opportunity to participate in this fantastic community event alongside some incredible artists and to all the residents who came out and enjoyed the spectacular work across the city centre. Find out more about who was involved in the 2023 programme here.
