New Adventures in Performance – Issue 2 – July 2019
AGON by Athena Vahla
Athena Vahla’s work sits somewhere between dance and performance. She works mainly in the UK and Greece, but the extract here is from Agon, a piece she made while resident in Grahamstown South Africa.
CLOSE TO HOME by Cheap Thrills
A short film from the Performance group Cheap Thrills. Two women recently graduated from MA Performance: Design and Practice at Central Saint Martin’s whose focus is ironically fixed on the problems of modern urban existence.
FROM THE ARCHIVE: Geraldine Pilgrim – a photo-retrospective
Gerry has long been one of the UK’s (Europe’s, the World’s?) most significant artists working in an almost unclassifiable area which occupies the territory somewhere between theatre, performance and installation. Her work has been hugely influential and this collection of photographs traces her projects from Hesitate and Demonstrate’s extraordinary theatre performance ‘Goodnight Ladies’ to her current more installation based practice. www.geraldinepilgrim.com
IMITATING THE DOG: Europe After The Rain – Process Documentary
A short process documentary from our week working with Inspyro in Manchester. ITD are currently exploring green screen filming with a computer generated 3D environment. It’s tricky, but when it works it’s very interesting.
