UK tour 2017
Following a sold out run at the Edinburgh Festival as part of the British Council Showcase, Nocturnes goes on tour in September and October.
“This is a startlingly unique and explorative work” ★★★★ – Fringe Guru
“…unsettling and thrilling to watch” – The Scotsman
“Cleverly staged, the attention to detail in this piece of work is outstanding” – British Theatre Guide
Two operatives holed up in a Berlin apartment in the Russian Zone await instructions. As time passes their relationship to each other and to the orders they receive from their superiors falls apart. Performed on what appears to be a film soundstage, two actors voice a film they can’t see and never acknowledge. But who is in control? And as the film gathers pace, can the past be changed by present-day actions?
Nocturnes asks important questions about truth and free will and about how we understand what’s real in this post-truth era.
