A STATEMENT FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JULIE BROWN

27th March 2020 by Morven Macbeth

In these, the strangest of times, we are all wrangling with our new realities, dealing with information which changes almost daily and most of all – working out what our place is within it all.

We’ve talked and thought and talked some more and this is what we’re going to do:

  • We are offering support for creatives. If you’re working freelance in our world, these are worrying times. Arts Council England have announced an Emergency Funding Package for individual artists, creatives and freelancers. If you are one of those, and looking to apply for one of these grants, we may be able to help. We can hear ideas, look over your plan or budget, or help if you’re not used to the Arts Council application system. In the first instance, contact julie@imitatingthedog.co.uk We will support on a first come, first served basis. PLEASE NOTE that in order to apply for these new funding streams, you will need to make an applicant profile on their application portal Grantium before the 3rd of April if you don’t already have one. More details about how to apply are due to be announced on 30th March so keep an eye on their channels for updates.
  • We are cooking up new projects to replace those we can’t deliver in this new climate. You can’t stop the ideas coming! New projects will mean we can commission work from our freelance artists.
  • And we are making some of our work available online. We hope this will go some way to keeping you entertained. We’ll put something new up on our website every fortnight until we run out of content! This goes live and will be available to everyone from Friday 3rd April but you can have a sneak peek now. We’re kicking off with Oh The Night!, a15-minute piece we made for Urban Legends in Hull at the end of 2018 – it’s a good watch for all the family.
